Henderson Lake Water Management Unit Spoil Bank Gapping

FY 2025 STATUS Complete

Type Hydrologic Restoration

Funding Source(s) State

Estimated Cost $1.5 million

CPRA recently completed construction on the Henderson Lake Water Management Unit Spoil Bank Gapping project, a hydrologic restoration project located west of the Atchafalaya River along the Dixie Pipeline Canal in St. Martin and St. Landry parishes. Prior to this projects construction, water flow into Henderson Lake was restricted by spoil banks built along the pipeline corridor, contributing to water quality issues and limiting water flow to the lower basin. The project has helped reestablish and promote a more natural flow of fresh water into Henderson Lake.

The project included the construction of 25 indented gaps, which help increase the flow of water into Henderson Lake and improve the water and habitat quality of the lake.
